Valentine’s Day Adventure!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today is a day that is all about love. A day filled with making others feel special and taking the time to cherish the valued relationships in your life. This is Jake and I’s 5th Valentine’s Day that we get to spend together, and our 1st Valentine’s Day with Dove!
The day started off perfect, with our entire neighborhood blanketed in a sheet of white snow. It was quite the surprise when we woke up and looked outside! Once we showed Dove, she was excitedly banging on the windows and watching the snowflakes gracefully float towards the ground.
The morning was filled with lots of playing and laughing before I put Dove down for her first nap. And after a homemade lasagna lunch, Jake presented Dove with her very own Valentine’s goodies. He gave her some gorgeous flowers, which she kept petting (so sweet) and a stuffed animal, as Dove has been very into her “stuffies” at this stage. Seeing him treat her in such a way brought tears of joy to my eyes, as Jake truly is the most amazing father to our little girl.
After the adults exchanged their Valentine’s goodies, Jake then decided to take the rest of the day off of work so that we could spend some quality time together, and have an impromptu adventure with Dove in the snow!
We threw our snow gear in the car, grabbed the sleds, put some dairy free hot cocoa in the thermos and sped off to the mountain! Which we are extremely blessed to live less than 30 minutes from.
On the drive up we reminisced on our love story and dreamed big dreams with one another. Talking about our goals and all the things we can’t wait to experience with our daughter. Once on Mt Hood, we drove to Bunny Hill, a special area perfect for sledding with littles.
Bunny Hill has multiple different areas for sledding . Kids of all ages can enjoy this area (and adults too!) because there are multiple sledding hills, a wide range of different sizes and levels of steepness.
Being a little nervous for Dove’s safety, I made us go to the smallest hill. And Jake and I took turns testing it out by going down it multiple times before I gave the “okay”. Alas, Dad and Dove went sliding down the hill with huge smiles on their faces.
We had such a fun time in the snow, singing songs and soaking up the glorious winter wonderland all around us. It was such a special time in the snow with our precious 11 month old.
After driving home we picked up sushi at our favorite place and settled in for a cozy night by the fire. The evening was concluded with watching Lady and the Tramp and snuggling as a family. I could not think of a better way to spend Valentine’s with my precious family.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s whether you were with friends, family or simply spending quality time in self care for yourself.
You are loved!
